With the rain holding off, grounds were open as assigned on Saturday. All games still went ahead, and there were some big wins around the board.
In the Women’s Premier League Roslyn Wakari AFC locked in another 3 points with an 8-0 win to Mosgiel AFC. Renee and Juliette both coming away with a hat trick, with a solid lead of 3-0 at half time. Head coach Hamish Philip said it was a “great performance and an enjoyable game to watch.”
With Queenstown AFC down 3-1 to Otago University on their home turf, it was a “competitive game, but Uni deserved the win.” Said QT head coach Mark Ford.
“Queenstown fell a little short of expectations, and we were unable to execute on the day.”
“Congrats to Uni, and it’s shaping up to be an exciting season.”
Green Island AFC had a 6-0 win to Otago University 2nds at Sunnyvale. With Uni still rounding up their full team, Green Island had a good attacking game, and made the most of shooting opportunities.
Dunedin Technical AFC had the bye this weekend, and will be back for a home game next week against Otago University 2nds.
