2 Tyre Tracks and Hire & Wensleys Cycles 4 & 8hr Enduro.

The fee for entry is $25-00 per rider for Under 19 and $35-00 per rider for Open and Veteran riders. Entries will be accepted until midnight onTuesday 20th June however a late entry fee of $10-00 per rider will be charged for entries received after Tuesday 13th June.

Solo riders don't fill in Team Name. Team riders, the captain should sign up first, create the “Team name” - and the team members will then be able to pick that team name from the list when they register themselves after the captain is done.

Important Event Information 

We have an U15 team in 4 hour category this year too.

There will be an E-Bike 4 Hour Team & E-Bike 8 Hour Team (you must be in this category even if only one E-Bike in team) categories this year too.

Spot prizes will be given away during the day. Riders will be notified if they have won a prize as they cross the start finish line. They must then report to the Club marquee to collect it. Spot prizes for solo riders will be held at the marquee until after the race. Prize giving for the 4 hour race will be on course at approximately 3:20pm. Prize giving for the 8 hour race will also be on course as soon as we have the results.

Every team member must ride at least one lap of the course. Teams will also be issued with a reflective arm/wrist band. This is to be used as the baton and passed on to the next rider for the team before they commence their lap. All team riders on the course must wear the band, failure to do so could mean forfeiting the lap. Please return the wrist band at the end of the race.

NOTE: The 2 Tyre Tracks and Hire Winter Solstice 8 Hour is for riders aged 13 years and over on race day! There is no age restriction on the 4 hour race.

Remember to bring some money as Donations will be collected for the BBQ Food and Beer.

Timetable for Raceday

9:00 to 10:30am Registration – this will be held in the MTB Club marquee. Solo riders and teams must register before riders briefing on the morning of the race to collect their race packs. Please register earlier rather than later to avoid the queue.

10:30am Rider's Briefing 4 & 8 Hour– this is compulsory for all riders competing in the event

11:00am 4 & 8 Hour Race Start

2:35pm (approx) –Cut off time for start of last lap for 4 Hour

3:00pm – 4 hour race Finish

3:20pm (approx.) – prize giving for 4 hour competitors on course at Sandy Point

6:35pm (approx.) – cut off time for the commencement of the last lap for 8 hour competitors

7:00pm – 8 hour race end

7:20pm (approx.) – prize giving for 8 hour race on course at Sandy Point


Car Parking

Car parking will be on the East side of Sandy Point Road opposite the course.

Competitors will be allowed to park one vehicle or erect tents or marqueesper per team around the transition area (beside the marked  course in the normal track car park). These will have to stay in place for the duration of the race. Car parking for competitors taking part in the 4 hour event will be on the outside parts of the course only.

All persons entering this event are required to read the entry form thoroughly, understanding the terms of entry. Individuals signing this form on behalf of a team are to ensure that all team members have read and understand the terms of entry.

Course

The event will be based at the Southland Mountain Bike Club's Sandy Point trail network located at Invercargill City Council's forestry block, Sandy Point, Invercargill. The transition area for team riders will be part of the course but located in a designated area outside the forestry block. The course will consist of approximately 60% man-made single track and 40% fire break/access roads. Average lap times are expected to be approximately 30 minutes. The organisers reserve the right to alter the advertised course or start time or duration of the event if conditions warrant.

Eligible

The Winter Solstice 8 hour is open to riders aged 13 years or older on race day. There is no age restriction on the 4 hour race. As the course includes some technical sections of track riders must have mountain bike skills and a reasonable level of fitness to compete. Riders must wear a NZ Standards approved (or equivalent) bike helmet in good condition at all times on the course. Only mountain bikes are permitted on the course.

Rules

Race briefing will be held prior to race start at 10:30am for all riders. It is compulsory for all riders competing in the event to attend.

Riders must abide by all instructions given by the race officials.

Riders must follow the marked course and must not deviate from it or ride it in the reverse direction for any reason. If a competitor encounters difficulties during a lap they must stay on the course and proceed to the transition area. Riders must obey road rules when riding on road sections - this includes the use of head and tail lights during hours of darkness.

Transitions for team riders are only to be made in the area designated. Only one rider per team is allowed on the course at any one time.

The cut-off time for commencement of the final lap will be at the discretion of the race organisers. Riders must complete the final lap prior to 7pm,  for it to be counted. The winners in each category will be decided by the number of full laps completed prior to 7pm and the shortest time taken to do so.

MP3 players are not to be worn on the course.

Over aggressive riding will not be tolerated. This is to be a fun event for all!

Consents

I, and my team members, consent to receive any medical treatment that may be deemed necessary in the event of accident, injury or illness during this event.

I authorise the use of my name, voice and picture and any information provided by me or my team on this entry form to be used without payment in any broadcast, telecast, promotion or advertising and on the Southland Mountain Bike Club's website.

I realise I, or my team, may be disqualified from the event if I do not abide by these rules.

Refund PolicyA $5 admin fee will be retained for any cancellations before  Wednesday 22nd June.  No refunds will be given for any cancellations after Wednesday 22nd June.  If the event is cancelled due to extreme weather or any other factors outside the event organisers control, no refund will be given.
