Introduction:
Equestrian sport is popular throughout the world, with 133 countries currently affiliated to the International Federation (FEI), with riders and horses numbering in the millions. Equestrian Sports New Zealand was established in the 1950s, and has grown to be one of the country’s more successful sports. With approximately 20,000 riders participating with 40,000 sport horses, Equestrian teams have won many Olympic and World Championship medals for New Zealand. Along with this our riders represent New Zealand at many international events throughout Australasia, Europe, America and the United Kingdom with distinction every year.
Season:
The Season for competitions runs through from beginning of September to the end of May. There are various training days going on through the year.
Events / Tournaments:
Dressage offers competitions throughout the season at Barge Park, Kaikohe and Kataia, Barge Park also holds the Dressage Northland Championships in February 2015.
Jumping and Show Hunter offer extensive competitions throughout the season from local to Grand Prix with the Show Jumping and Show Hunter Grand Prix show in October. Jumping offer competitions at Barge Park and Waimate North and Show Hunter at Barge Park, Waimate North and Kaikohe.
Eventing offer two competitions annually at Barge Park in November and February.
Coach Education:
