St John's College

St John's College has 750 boys from Year 9 to Year 13, and is located on Hillcrest Road, Hamilton.

Built on the Marist tradition, it emphasises family spirit, promoting an environment where students are well looked after. Staff and students form a community where they can support each other on a daily basis.

A modern learning environment, located adjacent to Waikato University, our school provides excellent facilities in all technologies, especially ICT, and teachers who model good relationships. St John's develops fine young men ready to make their mark on the world. Our Marist Men leave capable of building strong relationships, highly resilient and confident of their place in the future.

Sport at St John's

Sport is an important feature of the St John’s College culture. We have a proud sporting history and we are committed to providing opportunities for our young men to excel and to participate in a wide range of sporting and physical pursuits.

All students are strongly encouraged to participate in sport. We offer over 30 different sporting codes and our teams compete strongly in both traditional and emerging sporting competitions. Their is ample opportunity for students to test their talents, broaden their horizons and form lifelong friendships through sport.

As a Marist school, we insist on high standards of behaviour and sportsmanship from our students. We help young men to develop qualities that will serve them in life – the ability to be gracious in victory and generous in defeat, to play hard and to play fair, to strive for excellence and to bounce back from disappointment.

We are especially proud of the Athlete Development Programme (ADP) operating here at St John’s College. This truly prepares our students - both for the demands of elite sport and for a lifetime of physical activity.
