Property Update from the Board of Proprietors

Kia ora koutou

It is my great pleasure to welcome all new students, parents, whanau, caregivers and our wider community to Term 1, 2022.
I wanted to take this time to thank everyone at the College for the tremendous work that has been undertaken in our first month back at College.

To all our teachers, support staff and leadership team, you have prepared for the new year with such dedication. You have also had to do so whilst also preparing for the inevitable arrival of Omicron. Added to that we have had the added challenge of the protest nearby at Parliament.

Should you wish to understand some of the work the Board of Proprietors and the College have been undertaking or to understand our future capital works please take a moment to read through the below reports.

Interested in Work as a Proprietor?

The Board of Proprietors is a small group of voluntary directors, who work hard and make a huge contribution. We seek expressions of interest for two additional directors.  The skillsets required are: financial, property, fundraising, legal or governance.

Candidates:

  • should demonstrate a deep understanding of and commitment to the special character of St Mary’s
  • maybe a current parent or caregiver, former student or sibling, person with an ongoing interest in Catholic and Mercy education, or a young person developing governance skills after graduation.

If you would like to explore this opportunity, please contact me via Sally, St Mary's College Community Director at sally.dunbar@stmw.school.nz. We would love to discuss this with you.

Catherine McAuley and her founding sisters in Dublin changed the model of being a Sister by going out into the community to nurse during the cholera epidemic.  So, too, did the Sisters in Wellington during the 1918 Flu Epidemic. Many lost their lives helping the sick and vulnerable.

I know their spirit lives on in those associated with the College.

We are proud of you and thank you.
