WELCOME TO

STOKE BOWLS

The Stoke Bowling Club was founded in 1949 and has become a valuable recreational, social and sporting organisation in Nelson. Our Club is situated at 18A Ranui Road, Stoke and is at the back of Stoke Primary School, Main Road, Stoke. The Club has in excess of 100 members however is always looking for new members of all ages to join its ranks. This can be as a Full, Limited, Student or a Social member.

We have 2 natural greens which are considered to be the best in Nelson. The Club is a member of Clubs New Zealand with our members enjoying visiting privileges to approximately 300 clubs across the country. The Club has excellent facilities which are available for hire for corporate and private functions and this can include playing bowls. 2024 means that the Club is celebrating its 75th anniversary and a celebratory dinner was held during Labour Weekend.

If you would like to try your hand at the game of bowls come along during the season (there is usually somebody around the Club most days) or call us on +64 3 5477440. You can be sure to receive a warm welcome. Friday Mufti is played most Fridays and is a good way to learn to play bowls in a relaxed atmosphere. have your name in by 12.45pm for a 1.00pm start. There is a small charge for participation. After you have participated in the Friday Mufti why not stay on at the Club.

Various activities are held on a Friday night including Corner to Corner, quizzes, nibbles to eat and other activities from time to time. It is also a great way to meet other Club members.

Mens and Womens Junior Singles were played today. Congratulations to John Wilkinson in winning the Mens Juniors Singles winning both games in the 2 life draw against Dean Fowler 21-20 and 21-17 in the final game. There was a very high standard of bowls played by both players.

In the Women's Junior Singles, the semi final will be between Lyn Smith and Triona Wilkinson with the winner to meet Rita Brooks in the final, as Triona and Lyn have both had one life each and Rita still has the 2 lives going into the final. This will be played next Monday 17th at 9.30am. All the best to the players.

Entry sheets for the Stoke New World Open Triples played the 11th March and the O2B Healthy Open Triples played 20th March are on the notice board already for your entries :)
