WELCOME TO SPC FUTSAL
Futsal has been an ever-growing sport at SPC and in New Zealand. SPC has become a big piece of futsal in secondary schools in New Zealand, due to the success and talent provided over the last 15 years. Futsal is a fast-paced, highly technical 'Brazilian' style game, with similar attributes to football, just played indoor and 5v5.
Futsal was put on the map for SPC properly in 2014 under coaches Callum Holmes and Matt Fejos, and what a successful year it was. The seniors won their first ever title, defeating St Paul's Collegiate in a dramatic final 4-3 (link below) and the juniors were runners up, losing to Scot's College 3-2. The senior side consisted of Clayton Lewis, Gianni Bouzoukis, Raff Devitt, Tim Rawiri, Chris Kotrotsos, Finn Gaupset, Tiahn Manuel, Alexi Riordan, Llewellyn Esau, Tyler Ngaia and Jarrod Jarvis. The seniors went back to back National Champions in 2015, the first college to do so, defeating Rongotai College on penalties. In 2016, the seniors clinched the league with a 6-3 win vs Rongotai College (hatricks to Gianni Bouzoukis and Sam Mitrakas) and regional titles, whilst being knocked out to Kavanagh College (now Trinity Catholic College) in Nationals, 3-2 in the quarterfinals. 2017 was a year to remember under coach Khalid Razouk in his first spell, with both the senior and junior premier teams winning Nationals, the first college to do so. Our seniors (captained by Joe Gordon) also won the CSW league, and finished runner up in regionals. Liberato Cacace scored all 5 goals in a 5-0 win in the national final over Napier Boys High School, a performance that will be long remembered. In 2024, SPC had their most successful year, clinching all 3 titles to become 'treble winners'. Captained by MJ des Tombe, who received SPC Sportsman of the Year also in 2024, his side defeated Scots College in the league final 4-1 (hatrick to Sam Gates), St Bernard's College in the regionals final 4-1, and in the National final a 2-1 win over Mount Albert Grammar (MAGS), with goals to AJ Hale and Sam Gates the winner with 40 seconds to spare. The 2024 side consisted of Sam Gates, MJ des Tombe, Charlie Hale, AJ Hale, Surafil Keleab, Josh Ingham, Alfie Downing, Roma Lidstone, Xavier Gazzard-Steele, Albert Thompson, Zak Ramaekers and Victor Ablett. Futsal has a special legacy at SPC that continues to live on.
At SPC, futsal is played in Terms 1 & 4 (juniors and seniors). Senior and Junior premier sides compete in the NZSS Nationals Tournament, and College Sport Regional Tournaments. All SPC teams play in College Sport's weekly league, competitive or social.

*junior and senior premier players are charged extra for coaching fees and tournaments
Uniform: Junior and senior PREMIER players are provided with an SPC playing top but must have their own white shorts and white socks. All social players must wear their PE uniform or purchased (optional) SPC futsal top. All players require shinpads and futsal/indoor shoes.
