WELCOME TO SPC BASKETBALL
Basketball is a popular sport at St Pat’s and we cater for all students who wish to play.
We have excellent coaches including ex Wellington Saint's players Damien Ekenasio, and Brendon Polyblank. SPC has proven to be a stepping stone for greater success in Basketball, through leagues such as the NZNBL, NBL and further into the Tall Blacks.
OLD BOYS:
- Izayah Leafa (2014). Currently at Wellington Saints, Tall Blacks.
- Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones (2018). Currently at Valmeira Glass VIA - Latvian/Estonian League. Niwa was NZ's first ever US College Conference Player of the Year in 2025, and was apart of our Senior A side that came runners up in Nationals in 2018.
Our Senior A and Junior A teams attend Basketball New Zealand Premiership Tournaments and St Pat’s has achieved terrific success over recent years:
- National Champions x4
- Wellington Premier Champions x5
- Junior Premier Champions x5
For those that love to play with their mates, we have social teams that play on Thursday nights at the Akau Tangi Sports Centre during Terms 2 & 3, for juniors and seniors under the Wellington Basketball Association (WBA).
