The Takapuna Grammar School Premier Squash Teams, and our Open Boys Team competed in the Auckland Secondary Schools Team Competition held at North Shore Squash Club on June 17–18, delivering strong performances across all levels.
The Premier Boys Team competed across both days of the tournament, starting strong with dominant 5–0 wins over Lynfield College and St Kentigern College on Day One. Day Two brought a tightly contested 2–3 loss to rivals Westlake Boys, but the team bounced back with an emphatic 5–0 victory against Macleans College to also finish 3rd overall.

The Premier Girls Squash Team showed impressive resilience and team spirit in their competition on June 18th. Despite the challenge of being a player down due to illness, the team rallied together with the support of two new players, ultimately securing a 3rd place finish in a competitive field.

TGS also fielded a Division 2 Boys Team, featuring three Year 9 players. Although they faced tough, older opposition and didn’t manage a win across their three rounds, the boys demonstrated admirable determination and heart. The experience served as a valuable stepping stone in their squash journey.
Special mentions to Tom Bennett for strong leadership as captain, and Toby Melhuish for his guidance and support of the younger players.

With both the Premier Boys and Girls Teams now turning their focus to the National School Championships in August, we’re excited to see what’s next for TGS Squash. Well done to all our players for representing the school with pride, sportsmanship, and tenacity.
