The Taupo Bowling Club's roots go back to the year 1952 when the club opened its doors for the first time. Set on a prime piece of Taupo real estate on Ferry Road the club's elevated position commands panoramic views of Lake Taupo.

The clubrooms constructed during those early days alongside Ferry Road now serve as the implement shed, toilet block and for storage. In later years the club rooms in use to-day were erected complete with bar, social lounge, dining room, kitchen, offices, changing rooms, and store rooms, as well as an adjacent sealed spacious off road car park area.

The Clubhouse has recently undergone a complete internal refurbishment and is available for hireage to the public for group, family or business functions.

At one stage the Taupo Bowling Club reached a membership of more than 300 members including the women's and men's sections and boasted of three natural greens. In these changing times, while the club still thrives and can this season boast of an increas in membership on recent years, the number of playing members is just over 100.

The club, today has two greens, having installed an artificial GreenWeave surface  in 2006 while continuing to service a natural green.

Harcourts Taupo real estate agents are the major sponsor of the Club, it is now known as Harcourts Bowls Taupo.
