ABOUT THE CLUB

The Tauranga Road Cycling Club Inc. (TRCC) organises events throughout the year, which cater for all ages and abilities. Whether riding for fitness and fun, or the competitive challenges of racing, TRCC has something to offer for everybody. Organising regular training rides, races and social events, the TRCC allows you to meet up with like-minded cyclists and enjoy the ride.

TRCC is the Western Bay of Plenty’s representative cycling club of Cycling New Zealand (CNZ), the national body that covers all disciplines of cycling within New Zealand. Joining the TRCC provides automatic membership to CNZ, with its many benefits. By joining, it allows entrance to the many CNZ “open” races (held from August through to April) around the country (with numerous throughout the Waikato and BOP). CNZ races are run under control of referees, so tend to be much safer than “fun rides”. Contrary to popular myth, you don’t have to be a professional to take part, as riders of all abilities are able to compete. Similar to local events offered by the TRCC, events are graded or handicapped so that you ride with riders of similar ability and/or age.

Membership also provides regular newsletters and up to date information on coming events (CNZ, fun rides and masters events), while also giving access to discounts at local bike shops and CNZ partners. As a locally recognised official cycling body, the TRCC is your voice on cycling advocacy matters to NZTA and local council in the Western Bay.

For those wishing to follow a more competitive cycling career, the club is also able to provide coaching.
