Welcome to Tauranga Petanque

New members are always welcome as it is a great fun sport for anyone of any age.  The petanque boule is a small, light, unweighted ball thrown from a standing, squatting or anything in between stance to land as closely to the jack as possible.

Scoring is as in bowls - closest to the ‘jack’ of the 'holding' team counts. Games are played to 13 points or to a time limit. On club days, all games are drawn so there is a good mix of players and competition.

The Tauranga Bay of Plenty Petanque Association is affiliated to Petanque NZ. We play to the national body rules which are available on their website. We also host PNZ national tournaments.

We are also affiliated to the Auckland Petanque Association and host APA Regional tournaments.

Club Days

Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Guests Players from Other Areas & Clubs

We welcome guest players for a fun afternoon of Petanque. Please contact Ray 027 756 3565 so that we know you are coming and can contact you if for whatever reason that day's play does not go ahead. There is just a $2.00 charge per session. We aim to play 3 full games on Tuesday & Saturday and 2 full games on Thursday.

First Time Players

You don't need any experience or equipment to give Petanque a try. Although there is a $2 piste fee, if you decide to join any piste fees paid will be deducted from your membership fee!
