Children turning 12 in the calendar year will be in Under 12s and those turning 13 in the calendar year will be in Under 13s. Girls playing in a mixed team can also choose to play down an age grade if they would like.
Players are allocated into teams which they will remain in for the duration of the season.
Format
Games are 9-a-side, including a goalkeeper, and are played with a size 4 ball.
Competition matches for U12s are played on Saturdays and for U13s on Sundays, with each team playing 1 x 55 minute game. Teams can be re-graded over the course of the season to ensure they are playing against other sides at a similar level to themselves.
Teams will also have mid-week training, either at Grenada North Park, or another local venue.
Regional League
In each of these grades, Tawa AFC will enter either 1 or 2 teams into the Regional League, with remaining teams playing in the local Wellington/Western League. Regional teams are for players who would like to play at a more competitive level but, as the name suggests, do involve more travel e.g Hutt Valley, Kapiti. You will have the option when registering for U12s or U13s to indicate whether you would like your child to be considered for selection in a regional team.
