And the season kicks off with a first up Win - In What was wet conditions not good for running Rugby the boys nevertheless put in a Good first up performance to take down shore in a tight game in the first 40.

opening up in the second half wearing Shore down.

In courageous style the boys held it together to grind out Shore. Good signs up front with Shayne Wijohn and Pat Tsai getting good go forward, Positive signs of Great things to come this season.

Good Effort Boys!

Round 1: Game 2

Northcote take a Win over Dale 26 - 14

The Win over Silverdale at Silverdale grounds was a real sight to see. The guys took 20-25 min to settle down into their rythem and start to grind Dale down. Winning three try’s to one.

It was a real tussle in this 25min period with Dale leading earlier  (it took calm heads to settle down) And play our game.

Half time 13-11 To Cotes in a very close half.

Player of the day awarded to Harley Cribb in a Solid performance.

And standout performance from John  Danford (Jone) off the back of the scrum.

Tries going to Zac Madden in a good well orgastrated Halfback try, Harley Cribb Solid up the middle try and a real Blinder runaway try going to Trystan Van DerGeest.

3 Penilties and 1 Conversion going Jed Bolland.

Well Done Team Good Win!

We now have a week to prepare for East Coast Bays.

Round 1: Game 3

Northcote take a loss in an away game v ECB 23 - 11

Not a result taken well given it was a game we really should have banked.  Nevertheless it’s one we

need to put behind us and learn from, Focus on improving on the areas that let us down so we can take on a Massey side on top of the table.

Player of the day was awarded to David Bennito with some promising runs out on the wing.

A game that was Not to game plan we let 6points go begging we should have bagged. Would have made the loss a little easier to bear. We however will look forward to meeting again the return game at home to make things right!

Big game This Saturday at home V Massey come on down and support the Team.

Team we need to start well and not chase the game - allow us to play our game.

Heads up Boys Lets do this!

Round 1 Game 4

Cote’s U85s went down to Massey in a scrappy game, We need to Play Massey at their game.

Hard and Physical and with real grit and determination. (We will find this for the return match)

We can’t allow Massey to get their tails up and get away on us which we did and simply chased them all day around the field.

Massey are definitely beatable and to take em down we need to front up,

Work ons - Defence and Fix our on field structure Grit and determination and Find a little bit good old fashion aggression and really take it to them as this was missing and simply let us down on Saturday.

We were beaten by a better team in the day.

Heads up put this one away now and focus on Next week,

Good Luck Against Marist team!

Round: 1 Game: 5

Northcote take the Win over Marist 45 - 5!

In what was a much better performance From the team we got things back on track.

Some areas improved from last week Noteable Tacking and cover defence.

More ball to play with this week meant there was a number of good tries created.

Some really good work up front this meant we dominated the scrums with real ascendency,

Marist going backwards on a number of occasions. Line outs improved. And some good running by Jone Danford off the back , The boys need to read this and go with him in support.

The backs had it better than Marist and gave them a platform to run all day and they did. Scoring a number of tries. With some good first up tackles being made allowed the forwards to not chase the ball all day but make ground quickly and recycle good ball Good work done in the forwards!

The backs seem to be more structured this week , message look for the man outside you and make the pass if it’s on (or take it in and set it up) And go again. Stop the 50/50 pass off the ground possession gone begging.

We just need to go looking more when it’s not happening. (15-min period we lost our way and gifted a soft try) Bring in our Fullback into more moves and we have some real impact.

We injected some good pace on the wing and down the side line offered some scoring opportunities.

Tries went to Aaron Fletcher, Harley Cribb,Jimmy Napier x2,Josh Higgie,Jed Bolland and Jordan Bolland.

Player of the Day was awarded to Jed Bolland controlling the game more decisively.

Best of luck for next Week Boys V Puna. (Come down and support the boys)

Round: 1 Game: 6

Takapuna take a one point win over Cotes in a close encounter.

Two tries to Three the difference.

Northcote 17  -  Takapuna 18

Well this was not a game of two halves at all, this was a game gone begging.

One we had numerous opportunities to convert into points from the hard work done up front and we simply  didn’t take them. We need to learn how to finish and dig deep as this was game we could have won. We were the better team and made Puna look good through handling errors and not winning our own ball. (Fix the line outs) indecision in the back line causing some confusion and fitness in finishing well.

Find a way to utilise our wings more and bring our fullback into the game. We definitely have the pace out wide so let’s start to use this and get it wide.

Player of the day went to Isaac Lyndon for his work rate in the forwards.

Tries went to Joshua Higgie and James Napier

Good Luck heading into 2nd round against Shore in Devonport next week Team!

Round 2: Game: 1

Northcote take the Win 25  -15 over Shore at Devonport

It was a game played in tough conditions and No pushing scrums....it reallly came down to doing the work around the breakdowns Providing clean ball to the backs, using the wind in the second half and kicking our way to a good win.

In a game that was a party stopper Northcote went down and spoiled Shores Club day as they had won all other games earlier and this would have been the clean sweep, So thanks to cote’s for upsetting the party Good work team!

Try to Jone Danford and the remaining 20 points coming from the boot of Jed Bolland.

A Win doesn’t have to be flash or even stary you just take the points when presented and that’s what happened. Enough done around the pack at the breakdowns to give The backs some ball to have a few darts to set up a number of penalties. With Dale coming down on Saturday the boys will be looking for 5points so need to be structured hold their defence lines and and take it to the visitors Dale is the best defensive team in the division so we need to break there lines and turn them around.

Make sure you get down to the club on Saturday and show the boys some Cotes’s support.

Round: 2  Game: 2

Norhcote go down to Silverdale at Home 19 - 17

It was was a tough encounter and most likely one of the better all round games played this season

To actually finish as close as it did.......Made for a hard fought after game from start to finish.

A two Point loss is a bitter pill to swallow, As again we could have won this one and simply let the win slip away from our grasp in the dying minutes of the game.

Cote let into the half 14 - 5 and actually had Dale rattled if we could have held that tempo and kept the pressure on Dale we would have come away with a good win. The team needed some composure and to trust in there game plan, Win the line outs and set fazes......We need to Learn how to win those tight games. 17-12 Late in the piece to let a try (converted) slip in cost the game.

Two sendings off didn’t help so discipline is the clear message here.

Secure the set set fazes is the big fix for the coming games to have any chance of challenging for the cup. Line outs are letting down all the hard work done by handing back the pill to the opposition and in-acting undue pressure on the backs to defend, when we should actually be attacking.

We need to make those first up tackles stick and in turn trust our loosies to secure the ball.

Player of the day was awarded to Harley Cribb,  Some big tackles in defence and very Good work rate in mid -field.

Tries to Trystan Van Der Geest and Jordan Bolland,  two Coversions and a Penelty to Jed Bolland.

We will need all the support we can muster this Saturday at Home to take down E.C.B so come down and show some good old “ Get Stuck In Cotes” support!

Best of luck team!

Round 2 Game 3

Northcote beat East Coast Bays 42 - 6

In a performance that was quite possibly the best of the season where all came together to take down ECB at home, and make amends the first round defeat - result at Bays.

Well  done to the boys on a all round performance and a good boost going into a Meeting with Massey. next week at Massey Grounds.

Player of the day went to Jone Danford.

Well done again team

Round 2 Game 4

Northcote go down to Massey 18 - 20

It what to watch was a huge turn around from round One against a top of the table clash with Massey,

the boys out played Massey in the first 40 to lead at the break 15-10 and in a real tight game the team showed what they are capable of and really dominated at scrum time.

In a game that was a real beauty to watch the boys really stepped up and took the game to Massey and I would say, out played Massey Dominated up front and even pushed Massey backwards 5min for a push over scrum to Jone Danford. Defence was very good and out wide we had Massey rattled. And In the last 10mins Massey managed to break our defence and scored a try that felt like they stole a win of the Boys more than won a game.

Lineouts were better yes, but still some work to do here the pack is Scrumming well and the Wings are enjoying the ball we just need to get it there more and more.

Slow it down a little and have patience it will come. And last thing to mention is keep it tight and play smart Rugby to close out the close encounters. Player of the day was awarded to Travis Madden nice work up front Travis.

Tries went to Josh Higgie and Jone Danford - tries all forwards this week.

Come on down to Northcote this Saturday 2.45pm and support the Guys in the Last home game of the season before the playoffs kick off in two weeks.

Great Game Boys - Good watching.

Best of luck this Saturday at Home Against Marist.

"Congratulations Team on making the Semi Finals"

This is the road we take to the Finals with only one game between the team and The Grand Final.........

Let's Do This!!

A Great result on Saturday Pushed Cotes into Third place in the Competition! And sets up a Semi final match aginst Silverdale at Dale on Saturday.

In what was a good game to watch the team hit there straps and took down a Takapuna side at their ground that were having a go early on to unsettle the boys, to no avail the guys played there game and made the takles when they needed to. Cotes out scrumbed Puna

and shut down the few runners that had a crack at them. Puna had nothing else to bring and the team put them away comfortably.

Tries going to Trystan Van Der Geest,

Player of the day was awarded to

TrystanVan Der Geest on a very strong game on the Wing  with some real thundering running at one stage bolling over three defenders in his wake. Very Good game Trystan.

Please come and supprt the boys on Saturday in their Semi Final match up with Dale @ Dale we would appreciate all the support we can muster for this game!
