And that’s it folks, as far as the 2023_2024 playing season goes.  Your Board continues to work over Winter as they organise the Green renovations and of course continue to work with TKRTB (Aparangi) to target funding for our Artificial Green and planning the 2024_2025 events calendar and preparing annual Accounts and membership administration.

After April, the next meet up will be the AGM on Sat June 15th (tbc) when we will have PRIZE-GIVING.

Remember that INDOOR BOWLS are available on Mon & Fri afternoons at the Clubrooms throughout the year, depending on numbers. Just turn up from 1.30pm. Playing is not dependent on the weather or hours of daylight time and you don’t have to kneel down- just stand up to bowl as in Lawn Bowls.

And of course, the BAR continues to operate most FRIDAYS from 4pm.

The new batch of Club Shirts have arrived - see a Board member, $60 each.

NON-PLAYING MEMBERS NEWSLETTER               March 2024

This Newsletter is particularly for our new Non-Playing members. There is a copy of the Playing Members monthly Newsletter on the Noticeboard in the Clubrooms, which you are all very welcome to read.

April is the last month of this playing season – but don’t worry, the social season continues throughout the year – with the bar open most Friday nights from 4pm (not Easter Friday). Thanks to Lee and Russell for managing this. It’s nice to meet so many of you when you visit and enjoy the Clubhouse facilities. And all TKBC members are welcome to the GAMES sessions held in the Clubrooms, Mondays and Fridays 2-4pm, that continue throughout winter.

The 2023_2024 TKBC Playing Program is coming to an end as we close down later in April now that winter approaches and the Green needs to be renovated for next season after a busy playing year.

HOWEVER, on Saturday  March 30th  we have a fun event open to all NON-Playing members.

The descendants of Frank McRae (a TKBC stalwart over many years), come to visit TKBC each year from Whangarei and play a very relaxed  game of bowls which we’d like you to come along to, even if just to watch the Bowls events, or check out YOUR Club facilities and fellow members.

If you would like to have a go at playing - just turn up around 9.15am at the Clubrooms so that we can fit you with some Lawn Bowls from the spare sets owned by the Club. Wear comfy clothing and FLAT-Soled shoes and you’re well on the way to (or eliminating) a new career in Lawn Bowls. Please wear your name tags – they are on the Name-Board by the Bar if you haven’t seen yours yet.

And a reminder that once you have membership with TKBC you do not need to fill out another Membership Application Form. For residents and staff in Aparangi who wish to roll-over their membership, renewal will be processed between the Bowling Club and the Aparangi Office staff.       The Bowling Season is 1 September to 31 August each year. For those who are not Aparangi residents or staff, we will be in touch well before Opening Day.

Also, future notice of the Club AGM while we’re here: It will be held 1pm on Sat June 15th 2024 (tbc). All TKBC Members are welcome to attend and here is a reminder of the definition of a Non-Playing Member:

A Non-Playing Member is a person who wishes to enjoy the social and Clubroom activities of the Club, be supportive of, and enjoy an on-going association with the Club, but not to play lawn bowls (as of right). TKBC Non-Playing members are not permitted to access the Bar during the progress of Open Tournaments.

Non-Playing members have the right to hold office in the Club and to speak with the Chairperson’s approval, but NOT to vote at Club General Meetings.
