Tēnā koutou ngā mātua o te kura – Dear Parents
Welcome to week three.
It’s great to be back! The warm welcome and hugs I received from students was overwhelming. On that note I would like to extend my thanks to Charlotte Verrell for the efficient and proactive way in which she was able to work as the acting Principal in my absence. I would also like to thank the Terrace staff in general for their support for Charlotte during this time and their continued professionalism.
We have experienced a huge leak in our school hall that has flooded the carpet and made the smell awful in there. Our assemblies will have to be outside and the mornings are too chilly to do this. Therefore our “Chance” cards and “Good choice cards” will have to be drawn in the office and hand delivered.
“Ripper Rugby” was postponed today and will hopefully resume on Friday. Mr Cooper will be sending home team names and information.

Principal

READING AT HOME
Sometimes it’s not possible for children to own many books. However, they can join the public library for free and can borrow books from there.
Librarians will help children and parents find or reserve suitable books. They are also interested in children who have special needs, and will do their best to help with any special requests. Books about a child going to hospital, a child who is afraid of the dark, or an adopted child can often help a youngster feel less concerned about some similar worry he may have.
Libraries hold story-telling and holiday programmes during the school holidays and can also have groups to visit the library.

COMMUNITY NOTICES
ABOUT SORE THROATS
A sore throat is pain or discomfort in the throat.
Your child may find it hard to swallow, eat or drink because their throat is sore.
Sometimes, especially for young children, it is hard for them to explain what they're feeling.
You may need to explain to your child what a sore throat feels like and watch to see if they have problems swallowing, eating and drinking.
You can look in your child's mouth for these signs of a sore throat:
Throat infections are a common childhood illness and most sore throats are viral infections which will get better without treatment. However, bacterial strep throat infections are more serious and need treatment with antibiotics to prevent complications, such as developing rheumatic fever.
