Olivia Wilson's Umpiring Journey

Olivia Wilson is in Year 12 and is heavily involved in TGS Netball. She is a Player, Coach, Umpire and member of the SIC Committee.

Olivia's umpiring journey began when she was in Year 7 when she completed the Beginner Umpiring Course. This gave her the qualification and knowledge to start umpiring primary school games.

The next step was for her to gain the Junior Badge which involves a 4 week program at Netball North Harbour. She was required to pass both a theoretical and practical assessment with a required pass mark of 85% or above.

Olivia then worked towards her Centre Badge which is the first step of the Netball NZ Umpiring program. She attended another 4 week programme and completed a theoretical exam which accompanied coaching and assessment of game management by two assessors.

The Zone Badge is a similar process again, with another training block, theoretical exam, and coaching and assessment protocols. However, this time the assessment is managed by an appointed Netball New Zealand Assessor. It also required passing a stringent assessment of a Premier Open B and Premier Open A game.

Olivia completed her Zone Badge on Saturday 25th June 2022. Congratulations Olivia!
