Volleyball has grown in popularity and participation numbers over the past five years since securing a top coach. With some impressive goals to see this sport become a lead sport in our school, we are now reaching the peak of North Harbour, Auckland and National Secondary Schools competitions.

Offered to both boys and girls throughout the year, juniors play Term 4 and seniors play Term 1 in the North Harbour competition.

All teams play on either Wednesday or Thursday nights, except for the Senior Premier teams which play on Wednesday and Friday nights. 

Top teams compete in the Auckland Champs as well as the New Zealand Secondary Schools Volleyball Champs.

Students also have the opportunity to play Beach Volleyball during Term 1. We have a Beach Volleyball court on the school grounds, so our students have open opportunities for training. Competitions include the North Harbour Beach Volleyball champs as well as the Auckland and New Zealand Volleyball Championships which are held in late January each year in Mount Maunganui.

As a result of our Volleyball success over the past few years, we have a number of students who now represent New Zealand in both Beach and Indoor volleyball. 

Our Boys Premier team are coached by TGS Volleyball Head Coach, Tristan Hegglun. An experienced coach and player, Tristan has been with TGS for many years and has built the volleyball program into what is it today. 

You must trial for a Takapuna Grammar School volleyball team before you can register. 

Once you have been put into a team, you will be asked to register through the Sports Department.

Junior and Senior fees are different and take into account what level of coaching each team received. Expect volleyball season fees to be anywhere between $80 - $210 per term. 

You will be emailed when fees are due. You do not need to pay these online. 

Note, tournaments and Senior National Champs are calculated separately and are usually around $130 to $745 respectively.

You will be provided with a Takapuna Grammar School Volleyball uniform at the beginning of the season. Boys are loaned a numbered playing shirt and shorts while girls are loaned a numbered playing shirt only. 

This is to be returned at the conclusion of the season. It's your responsibility to take care of this uniform or you will be charged for a replacement.
