Timaru City AFC have a long and proud history in South Canterbury football. We formed in 1968 and combined with Northern Hearts between 1982 and 1995 to create a travelling team, South Canterbury United, before reverting back to Timaru City in 1996.

Timaru City competed in the Southern League from 1968-1999 and won the Southern League Division 2 title in 1971. We also finished 2nd in 1977. The club's best Chatham Cup performance came in 1972 when it reached round 4 losing 0-1 to New Brighton in extra time.

Timaru City are a warm, friendly, family orientated club. We are always on the lookout for new and/or returning players and can offer some of the best, club owned, facilities in South Canterbury.  Timaru City fields teams in the senior men's and women's leagues as well as juniors.

We also offer a great family and early payment discount on subs which has been particularly appealing to our members during these tough financial times.

But wait there's more!!  We also run various other fun events and activities throughout the year to ensure even the most demanding footy fans are kept happy all year round. Some of these extra benefits include - our popular Summer 7's competition that runs through the off-season (Great for keeping fit through the summer!), then we have our legendary 5-a-side tournament that draws teams from all round the South Island (always a fantastic, fun weekend enjoyed by all who take part)
