The following presentations were made at the 2012 End of Season Awards night to three outstanding members who have given excellent long service to the club.

Marty Davison
  • “Mr Varsity Basketball”
  • 7 years starting Prems point guard – last two years as Captain.
  • Helped the U23s to three finals and two titles.
  • Juggled studies/work NBL player commitments: 2 years with the Canterbury Rams, 2 with the Christchurch Cougars, and this year went up to the Harbour Heat
  • Been on 4 x Varsity 3rd Divs trips (3 as our team referee/mascot as NBL ineligible)
  • Puts his body and mind on the line in every game.
  • Fierce competitor with a high will to win.
  • Intense focus and demands high standards.
  • Infectious enthusiasm and mentor to all younger players.
  • Helped Coach the U23s in the stretch run.
  • Off the court stepped into secretary role since last year and always willing to help.

Uriah McCall
  • Involved on and off over the last 5 seasons playing prems and u23s while studying engineering
  • Biggest hearts in the game
  • Nicknamed Beast as he came to trials from wearing his High School leavers jersey with had BEAST written across the back.
  • Tireless worker on the boards, and takes a physical punishment with a smile on his face.
  • Critical in wins over Atami in recent years, not backing down from more experienced players
  • Always positive and a great teammate.
  • Athletic big man who is never shy to show off his ball handling skills – behind the back dribble in the open court.
  • Was the MVP of the Otago University game last week leading the side.

Ashlee Rigter
  • 5th year with the club – 4 titles – only time not won was when she was in the states studying.
  • Personifies the student athlete mantra – completing her studies this year.
  • A former recipient of the UC Blues Award while playing with the Canterbury Wildcats a couple of years ago.
  • Extremely productive year as Vice President – responsible for organising clubs days, organising refs at the Friday Social Mixed and Sunday Leagues at UC Rec Centre, helped organise the new girls uniforms, social events and helped form the new U20 team.
  • A member of the Strength and Conditioning Group at the UC Rec Centre.
