Seamus Casey (Goalkeeping Specialist)Mobile: 021 807 634.Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Seamus Casey has been passionate about goalkeeping from a young age. He's played football for 20 years and continues to love the challenges that come with playing in goal.
"Through my playing years I have developed an understanding of what players want from their coaches and, as a result, am determined to gain the appropriate skills to make me an effective coach," said Seamus. "I am currently a FFA/AFC Advanced Level GK Coach and am sitting my FFA/AFC B Licence.
"As a player I played NRFL Premier League level for a number of years and also attended several NZ age group camps. Playing at a high level from a young age has allowed me to understand the environment young players are exposed to and this has motivated me to want to assist future generations of young keepers on their goalkeeping journey."
Seamus' coaching journey has so far taken him from club level to NZ Football and, most recently, with the Waikato Bay of Plenty National Women’s League team for the 2019 season.
"Goalkeeping is so unique in that it is, at times, an individual sport within a team game. One of the best parts of goalkeeping is the ability to control the game, to help dictate play and to really make a difference to the outcome," explained Seamus.
“For young goalies my best advice is to just enjoy themselves and realise that sometimes they’re going to let goals in and make mistakes. The main thing is not to worry about making the mistakes, to not let it affect you, just learn from it, move on and enjoy yourself.”
