Formed in 1950 Waihopai AFC is one of Invercargill's leading football clubs and Southland's most successful Southern League side. 2020 saw Waihopai celebrate its 70th anniversary with plenty happening on the weekend of September 18-20, 2020.

The Waihopai AFC has club rooms and facilities based in the Surrey Park grand stand beside Southland's jewel in the crown Stadium Southland. 

Waihopai's main ground is in the middle of the running track with two grounds and a training ground to the north of the running track.

Waihopai's club colours are the blue and gold made famous by Otago - blue and gold striped shirts with blue shorts and blue socks

Waihopai is an inclusive football club providing a great sporting experience to players of all ages, abilities, and genders. The most recent exciting development is a partnership with Special Olympics Southland.
