Student Driver/Passenger Policy
No passengers may be carried unless further permission is sought i.e. until the parents/caregivers of the driver and the parents/caregivers of the passenger have completed the appropriate forms and returned them to the Sports Office. Drivers carrying passengers must hold a full licence and the vehicle they are driving must be deemed road worthy at time of travel, according to NZTA guidelines.
Code Clashes/Communication etc
It is our intention to foster strong communication between team management and athletes in order to avoid any conflict. It is the responsibility of each team member to communicate their intentions with regards to holidays, timetable conflicts, absence from practice and trials etc as soon as possible.
Club and/or School
The New Zealand Secondary School Sports Council (NZSSSC) recommends that the primary team sport experience for most 13-18 year olds takes place in secondary schools. Waimea College supports this fully. It is the intention of Waimea College to only send a team to tournament (major South Island or National) if they have established a presence in some form of local competition. This includes regional qualifiers and regional invitation tournaments.
If Waimea College is not able to field a team in a local competition, then that sports tournament team will be drawn from any students within the school who wish to trial for that team. The criteria for inclusion in this squad and the training requirements will be set by the tournament team coach and must be communicated to the HOS.
