July Update

1.1  Matariki class programmes are in full swing for the start of this term with waiata, pepeha, artwork and growing Te Ao Māori knowledge in the children.

The school's values of poipoia care, toha share and maia dare shine as bright as the cluster as they intertwine with the meanings of Maramataka.

1.2  We are fortunate again to secure the services of L. Swann to relieve in G. Cass's class for as long as needed this term. G. Cass's transitioning hours have increased from two hours a day to a minimum of three and up to a full day.

1.3 Netball teams were out on the courts taking part in the local competition while the hockey players are racing over the artificial turf in Whakatane. Again, thanks to the staff coaches, and parent managers, for giving up their time to help on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays to support their children's sporting endeavours.

1.4. Congratulations and well done to the team of Waiotahe dancers for their performance in their first public performance.

1.5 Congratulations to Maia Black who appears to be following in her siblings' footsteps and is achieving high rankings in the dart throwing competitions at a National level. I am sure her Nan from above is smiling at her as she too was an avid dart competitor.

1.6 The refurbishments to Te Uenuku and Te Ngahere are well into the last phases as wall linings, decking and mew units are being installed.
