Training - Local Region

Rowers complete training every week according to their age group. In order to support training WCRC has access to different locations for training in the local region according to the type of training (and due to the weather - mainly wind). 

Wellington

  • Wellington waterfront - Star Boating Club - located in the Star Boating Shed in Wellington.

  • Petone - Waimarino Boat Shed (Honiana Te Puni Reserve).

Foxton 

  • Manawatu Power Boat Club (MPBC) and ramp (organised day trip)

Training Camps

Wellington College Rowing Club has two main training camps based in Whanganui:

  • Spring Camp takes place during the first week of the term 3 holidays.
  • Summer Camp takes place in January during the Christmas holidays.

Summer Camp - mid January

Other Camps

Central RPC Development Camps

  • Parents and rowers should talk with their coach about the value of attending these camps.
  • The Central RPC holds development camps in Blenheim over 3 weekends during the off-season (May, July and September). 
  • The Central Region covers Taranaki, Wanganui, Wellington, Marlborough and Nelson.
  • Central Rowing Performance Centre website, The Central Rowing Performance Centre (RPC) is part of Rowing New Zealand’s High Performance Programme which is about helping talented young rowers from school and club teams become elite athletes rowing for their country.  click here.


Waitangi Weekend Camp

Accommodation: Whanganui River Top 10 Holiday Park, 460 Somme Parade on the banks of the Whanganui River. 


Labour Weekend Camp

Accomodation: Kahutara School, 990 Kahutara Road, RD 1, Featherston. Ruamahanga River, 737 East West Access Road, Western Lake, Wairarapa. (This is the drop-off point for Saturday and pick up point for Sunday).
