Volleyball
Welcome to Wellington College Volleyball.
Volleyball is a very popular and successful sport at WC. Senior trials will take place in late January before school starts as the games start mid February, with trainings taking place in both Term 1 and 4. Info will be sent out to those enrolled.
The Senior A team won the CSW prem grade competition, the Regional Championships and finished 5th at Nationals in March this year. The best a WC Volleyball team has ever reached at Nationals!
Hamish Davenport, Captain Y13, was recognised at CSW Volleyballer of the year 2024.
UNIFORM: Indoor court shoes, PE shorts, PE top (singlet and shorts provided for prem teams)
COMPETITION: CSW Leagues. Juniors play Wednesdays after school and seniors play Fridays after school at various school gyms throughout Wellington. Parents, please offer to help with transport around the region. We also would like help with coaching and managing teams.
TRAINING: Twice a week at the Sports Centre
SEASON: Terms 1 & 4
COSTS: $80 Registration (covers both terms)
NOTE: NZSS Volleyball Tournament for the Senior A team and NISS Volleyball tournament for the Junior A have additional costs (over $800 per player), be prepared to do fundraising to help with costs.
TRIALS: All held at the WC Sports Centre. Please come in sports gear and ready to go 15 mins before start time. Players must be registered and paid up in order to trial.
Senior Programme and Important dates to start of season, Term 1 2025
- Pre season scrimmages start on Wednesday 22 Jan 4-6 pm at the Sports Centre, ALL seniors welcome.
- Second scrimmage on Tuesday 28 Jan 5-7 pm.
- First Trial on Thursday 30 January 4-6.30 pm
- Second Trial on Monday 3 February 4-6.30 pm
- Team trainings start on Thursday 6th Feb 4-6.30 pm
- Friday 14th Feb - first game CSW competition played at various school gyms in Wellington
- Senior trainings on Monday and Thursdays 4-6.30 pm, Saturday afternoons may be brought in closer to tournaments for Senior A.
