Another great year of competition finishing with the 2025 18 Hole Champion of Champions.

We had a lovely fine day on a well-presented course. Thanks to Te Awamutu green staff.

A huge thank-you to Te Awamutu Golf Club for hosting this year. Thanks to Mary and Gemma for all their organization with Dana putting this competition together. Thanks to all helpers on the day registrations, starters on the tees and helpers with entering cards and results.

Thanks to caterer Anna, who had a medical emergency on the day, for preparing lunch and many thanks to Laura who stepped in to prepare lunch for the players. We were all so appreciative of your quick response to our predicament.

Otherwise, it was a great day. With a well-presented course there was some pretty hot scores out there. Congratulations to Taimana Ngakuru (Te Kowhai) who shot her 1^st below par round 69 and then backing it up with a 76 and taking out the Waikato Women’s 2025 Champion of Champions.  This was a very close competition with Alison Glover (Ngaruawahia) hot on her heels with rounds of 74 and 73. Great golf ladies.

A big thank you to Matamata Golf Club for making their Club available for our 2024 Women's Champion of Champions there. The course was great with lovely greens. Huge thank you to Sheelah Lamb and her team of helpers. Thanks for all the communications with Dana and organising players on the day. Congratulations to all those players who were representing their clubs and playing in this Waikato pinnacle competition against their peers.

There was some very impressive scores out there and good to see all our Inter-Provincial Team members pushing each other to perform at their best.

A dreary start to the day for the women participating in the 2023 Women's Champion of Champions 36-Hole event held at Te Awamutu Golf Club on Sunday, 19th November. The course was extremely well presented, especially remarkable after 3 days of solid rain, reflecting the hard work of the green staff and the hardworking pool of volunteers.  

There was some fantastic scoring throughout the day.  Silver Divison player Gemma Towers, with the home course advantage, had two solid rounds of 74 giving her the gross win over veteran player, Jill Morgan from Cambridge Golf Club, who had rounds of 77 & 78.   Deborah Foster, Ngahinepouri Golf Club, with a 144 score took the Net Prize with Pam Wright, our Net Runner Up with a score 149.

In the Bronze 1 Division, another Te Awamutu player, turned up the heat with solid play, Karen Te Huia.  She had rounds of 91, 95  for a total 186, 3 shots clear over Sally Moore of Hamilton who tooks the Gross Runner Up prize.

The Gross Stable Rosebowl Team event was won by, no suprise here, Te Awamutu Golf Club.  The Team of Gemma Towers, Karen Te Huia and Angela Thomson was just too good on the day! It was then a battle for the Runner up prize.  The girls from Tieke Golf Estate, Julie Gee, Marg Edmeades and Raewyn Hale managed to fight off the other 10 teams to take the runner up spot.

Thank you to Te Awamutu Golf Club for hosting, to Mary Wano and her amazing team, the volunteers and greens staff for all your hard work and efforts!

We'll see you all again in 2024.
