Umpire Training for Year 8 Students: Kiwi Whistler Programme

The Kiwi Whistler Programme is designed to train year 8 students who wish to learn to umpire.  It is a 6-week programme for 2 hours with theory and a practical application by umpiring Year 6 and some senior Saturday games.  

Wellington West Netball School Convenors are invited to submit the names, parent email and phone contact details of two* Kiwi Whistler 2024 nominees and their mentors to

(*Due to the size of Samuel Marsden and Karori Normal these schools are able to submit four)

Dates and times for 2024 sessions are:

4pm-6pm Tuesday 5th March

4pm-6pm Tuesday 12th March

4pm-6pm Tuesday 19th March

4pm-6pm Tuesday 26th March 

4pm-6pm Tuesday 9th April

Mentors MUST attend with their Kiwi Whistlers for every session to get acquainted with new rules.  Mentors will shadow and support their Kiwi Whistlers at their games.

Kiwi Whistlers are to bring a pen, adequate footwear and long hair tied back.

Kiwi Whistlers will be required to be available for umpiring during the season at Cardinal McKeefry School starting 4 May 2024.


Cost $50 includes a Fingergrip Whistle
