Umpire Training for Year 8 Students: Kiwi Whistler Programme
The Kiwi Whistler Programme is designed to train year 8 students who wish to learn to umpire. It is a 6-week programme for 2 hours with theory and a practical application by umpiring Year 6 & some senior Saturday games.

Here is an outline of the key points:
Attendance to ALL sessions throughout the whole season is MANDATORY (that’s 6 weeks of training on Tuesday from 4pm-6pm (starting 10 March – but not in the school holidays) and ALL games throughout the season (1 week off for a school camp is permissible).
Students MUST be chaperoned/mentored by a parent at ALL sessions (training and games) and the chaperone should know about netball rules or be prepared to learn.
The person must be in Year 8 and be registered to play netball for their school.
There’s a $50 registration cost (includes fingergrip whistle)
