Out of School Care and Recreation (OSCAR) Subsidy

Out of School Care and Recreation (OSCAR) Subsidy is a payment which helps families with the costs of before and after school care for up to 20 hours a week, and school holiday programmes for up to 50 hours a week.

Below is a table of subsidy that you may be entitled to for 15 hours of after school care and 50 hours of holiday care per week. You will need to apply to WINZ as per the process below, who will confirm how much subsidy you will get.

Example: If you earn less that $1,062 dollars a week and qualify for the full subsidy of $6.38 an hour.

You will only pay $2.70 per day for after school care
In the school holidays, an in-house full day (7am-6pm) would be fully covered by your WINZ subsidy.
