Our Whare, Our Whānau, Our Way

Having positive sideline behaviour is core to building a great experience for all players, match officials, support volunteers, staff, and spectators, along with everyone else at the grounds on any given day.

Negative behaviour can easily ruin a good game and day with whānau and has no place in the great game of rugby league. Out of character poor behaviour can come from anyone at any moment, especially in the heat of a match. It is important to have key messages as a reminder and to set the standard expected throughout our community. Building awareness for those attending game day activities will help to create that enjoyable environment for participants.

Auckland Rugby League has zero tolerance for negative sideline behaviour. Our aim is to support an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment for everyone to enjoy. In 2023 we launched "Our Whare, Our Whānau, Our Way", an initiative to build awareness and understanding of the rules and expected behaviour on game day both on and off the field.

Rolling out Auckland wide, the 32 Auckland clubs are aligned in developing this safe space and continue to build on the already positive community that surrounds our sport. This also ties into the nationwide 'Be a Sport' programme.
