Canterbury Baseball Association

Are you looking to take up that next governance role?  Interested in sharing your governance and leadership skills with one of NZs newest summer sports in Canterbury?


Elected & Appointed Directors Required


Canterbury Baseball Association (CBA) is seeking both appointed and elected directors to join the Board to steer and assist the sport of baseball establish their foothold in the Canterbury region and set a strategic pathway forward. 


The Canterbury Baseball Association has a vision of a ‘thriving baseball community throughout Canterbury’ with a mission to inspire, lead and support the growth of baseball in the region through great baseball experiences for all.


The CBA Board needs to provide excellent governance and leadership, providing support to operational structures to drive baseball forward here in the mainland.

The Canterbury Association is responsible for steering, leading, administering and developing baseball in the Canterbury region. The Board of CBA are in the process of establishing a platform for growth, development, and participation with a future-focussed approach.


Ideal Applicants

CBA are looking for experienced and new directors for both elected and appointed positions that have the right mix of expertise and experience.  If you have the following attributes and have value to add to a growing summer sport, apply now.


  • A thorough understanding of the role of governance and the role of the Board
  • Ideally you have had previous governance experience and/or the desired expertise required.
  • A genuine passion for governance and community sport
  • An interest or involvement in baseball is preferred but not essential.
  • An understanding of sport (in general) and/or regional sport and RSO’s is preferred. 
  • Whilst not essential, areas of expertise preferred are; governance, finance, commercial, marketing.
  • A broad network across the community, region, sport and business would be beneficial.


The Board generally meets monthly, where Directors can expect to have tasks arising from sub committees.


All Directors are expected to make a minimum two-year commitment to these voluntary roles.

Baseball New Zealand is always on the lookout for volunteers to assist in running the game.

Dedicated, friendly volunteers are the cornerstone of all great sports and baseball is no different. We’re looking for volunteers with a wide variety of skills and experience to shape our operations for athletes, officials and fans. Our goal is to create a volunteer-centric program that encompasses capable, committed and connected volunteers, who have a passion for helping young athletes achieve their goals.

Baseball New Zealand requires assistance in all facets of the game, umpires, scorers, tournament officials, administrators, sponsorship specialists and anyone who just wants to be part of the team working to make baseball the most popular summer sport in New Zealand.
