Bowls Dunedin is a regional sporting organisation affiliated to Bowls New Zealand. Our purpose is to deliver, promote and ultimately strive to grow the great game that is Bowls.

Bowls Dunedin is seeking applicants for the Centre Manager role. This exciting role is full time (30 hours), based at our fantastic bowls stadium in Dunedin, with some flexibility for the right candidate. 

The Centre Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership, including planning, budgets, commercial activities and funding. Bowls is a sport for everyone, and this role will be responsible for ensuring Bowls Dunedin is equipped to deliver high quality participation opportunities at every level of our game.

It is an exciting time for Bowls in New Zealand with a number of new initiatives that are contributing towards a new audience and participant base for our great sport. Bowls Dunedin is looking for someone who can work with our network of clubs and key stakeholders to grasp the opportunity that Bowls Dunedin has for growth and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning
  • Key liaison role (Clubs, Greenkeepers, Umpires, Player Coach Coordinator)
  • Developing and achieving annual plans  
  • Setting and monitoring annual budgets
  • Board reporting
  • Maximising revenue
  • Managing stakeholders including local (Clubs, Schools, Council, Funders etc) and further afield including Bowls New Zealand and zone six members
  • Event Management through membership on Bowls Dunedin operations committee
  • Support Player and Coaching coordinator
  • Supporting Audit & Risk committee 

Capabilities - Professional

  • Understands and is passionate about the sport of Bowls. 
  • Significant understanding of regional sports organsations and the landscape in which they operate
  • Proven experience in planning and facilitating programmes.
  • Proven understanding of relationship building.
  • Presentation, verbal and written skills.
  • Proven administration ability.
  • Understanding of the Bowling environment and how this fits into the sport and recreation landscape.
  • Proven ability preparing and implementing plans with an outcome based focus.
  • Broad range of computing skills, including Microsoft package.
  • Working understanding of accounting knowledge, and experience using  Xero would be an advantage.
  • The successful applicant will be, innovative and insightful, have excellent people skills, high levels of written and verbal communication, can work independently, embraces change, is flexible to meet the needs of the sport.
