Athletics
Athletics commences with the School Athletics day where all students can participate in a combination of competitive athletic events and fun inter-house activities. To compete at the zone days and championships students must qualify at the school athletics.

Cost: $20 will be added to students’ account for the school athletics day and swimming sports combined.

Badminton
Social Competition at Carmel College:
Term 2&3 for Years 8-13
Teams are to consist of 4 players; they will need to create their own team uniform and name.
The cost for the social Badminton season is $10 per player to cover equipment upkeep and replacement.
Rackets and Shuttlecocks will be provided.
Basketball
The season runs Term 2 and 3.
Premier: Friday 6pm or 7.30pm home and away games over Auckland.
U17: Friday 4pm onwards AUT Gymnasium or North Shore Events Centre.
Y9/10: Wednesday or Thursday 4pm onwards AUT Gymnasium or North Shore Events Centre.
Uniform: Carmel College basketball Home and Away strip will be loaned for the season.
Other teams will be required to purchase a numbered singlet. Basketball shorts will be loaned for the season.
A deposit of $100 for all players must be paid through the school online shop prior to trials. The remaining amount is due once teams are named. $50 administration fee will be retained if you pull out during the season, due to reasons other than injury.
Beach Volleyball
The league runs in Term 4. This is a social sport; girls are required to create their own teams for this competition
Competition: Wednesday 4pm onwards at Mairangi Bay Beach Volleyball Centre

Cheerleading
All Year round for Year 7-13 Students
Trainings are Wednesday nights 6pm – 7pm
Training to be held at All Stars Cheerleading, 62B Diana Drive, Glenfield. Additional training can be held at Carmel College leading up to competitions if required.
The cost is per term, payable to All Star Cheerleaders (plus reduced prices for current All Star members)
Uniform: White sneakers and socks, Carmel College Cheerleading uniform for purchase or hire.

Dragon Boating
Year 12&13 competitors and must be able to swim 50 metres.
Auckland competition: Sunday 24 March, Lake Pupuke 2024
(Nationals will be an option if we have enough paddlers for a competitive boat)
Maximum of 22 needed; paddlers and one caller in the boat.
Training: 6 weeks on Monday and Wednesday starting February after school from 4.15-6.00pm on Lake Pupuke.
Cost: $100 for the training, event entry and singlet to keep (cost TBC).
Equestrian
Equestrian is run throughout the year and open only to students who have a horse and are already experienced riders.

Uniform: Blue Carmel long sleeve Equestrian top. Competitors must wear hard hats at all times when mounted.

The season runs Terms 2 – 3

Competition: Starts Term 2, Wednesday 4pm at various North Harbour/Auckland venues
Winter Tournament: NZSS Championships in September

Hockey
Competition: Starts Term 2. 1st – 3rd Xl Thursday 4pm onwards, 4th Xl Friday 4pm onwards. Various venues around North Harbour.
Training: Mondays 6.45am - 8am for 1st/2nd Xl and Thursdays 7am - 8am for 3rd Xl at WGHS
Winter Tournament: New Zealand Secondary Schools Tournament in September for the 1st Xl team.
Uniform: Carmel College Hockey uniform is a numbered singlet, skort and blue school socks. A dress will be loaned to the 1st Xl team for the season.

Rowing
Carmel College Rowing is facilitated through the North Shore Rowing Club on Lake Pupuke all year round.
Competitions:

The North Shore Rowing Club welcomes Year 10/11 Carmel girls who are keen to row into their club in September each year.
They join the club ‘Learn to Row’ programme which consists of 8 two hour lessons costing $80.00+ tax.
Those who wish to continue and show promise move into the club’s Development Squad the following year, in September, where they will train for 12 months in preparation for racing. The cost for this stage is $300.00 + tax.
Once they are selected to represent NSRC as a novice, they become full club members and train and race competitively. The cost of this is $1,100.00 plus additional costs for regattas, rowing camps and the NZ Club Rowing Champs in either Twizel or Cambridge.
Initial training is done on lake Pupuke at 3.30 pm twice a week and after that, training also includes regular sessions at Greenhithe.
At the end of the club season in late Feb, the school rowing regattas start and rowers need to purchase a Carmel row suit for these. There are two school regattas on Lake Pupuke, the Mercury Junior Regatta at Karapiro and the North Island Secondary Schools’ Rowing Championships at Karapiro. Sometimes it is also possible to also attend the National Schools’ Rowing Championships ‘Maadi Cup’ but this is a joint decision between the school, the coaches and parents and requires parents to be in charge on the trip.

Snow Sports
The school enters teams/individuals into the North Island Secondary Schools Ski Championships held at Turoa and Y7/8 students to the North Island Intermediate Championships in September
Trials: Students will have to attend two trainings and trials at Snowplanet early Term 2. These two dates are compulsory for any girl wanting to compete.
Auckland Competition: Early June at Snowplanet, $75 for the day
North Island Competition: Late September three day event at Turoa, $200-400
Uniform: The girls are to supply their own gear

Y9-13 Seniors
Term 4 Training Sessions for all players Thursday mornings 5.30am - 6.45am at AUT Millennium. These training sessions are seen as the trials for the Senior 2024 team/s
Training will commence on Monday 9th October and will run through to Sunday 10th December
The Senior B team will only be formed if the majority of players are in Y11 - Y13
The Senior season in Term 1 consists of Two trainings a week Senior A and one training a week for Senior B in Term 1 of 2024, plus two games a week for each team in Term 1
Costs are not determined at this stage, but the 2022 season for Seniors was $160 in Term 4 and $580 in Term 1.
