Titiro Whakamua: Teen Parent Unit

About Us

Titiro Whakamua is a secondary school for teenage parents or hapū mamas-to-be; a place of choice to continue their education.  We provide a high quality, holistic programme that will enable teen parents and their tamariki to develop a strongly woven whāriki of learning skills and personal values to be confident, competent, lifelong learners.  We are here to support them through their studies, challenges and to reach for their dreams.

We have been supporting teenage parents in the Hutt Valley since 1997, originally established as a teen parenting programme with Special Education Services in 1997, from there moving to being a satellite school of Upper Hutt College in 1999 operating out of St John's Church, and shifting into a purpose-built facility under the care of Heretaunga College in 2004.
