Each year the Whakatane District Pony Club runs the following events:

District Gymkhana (Held in about October each year)
Age groups as per Bay Champs Gymkhana (First Year Rider, 10 yrs & under, 11 - 12 yrs, 13 - 14 yrs, 15 to under 21 yrs).  This is a selection event for WDPC Bay Championship Gymkhana Team (note first year riders are not eligable for selection).

Trophies competed for are:
Grooming Cup (Junior & Senior)
Quadruple Drill Teams (Dressage to Music)
Shield for Most Points 10 yrs & under
Club Overall winner most points
Rambo Trophy (presented in 2003 by Nancy McEwan & family for rider with most points in Games Ring 11-12yrs age group)
Disneyland Trophy – (most points in SJ 13-14 age group)

Dressage (known as Paula Hansen Dressage Day)
History Irene & Murray Hansen in 1972 after the death their daughter Paula, a Kawerau PC member donated the trophies for a district dressage day to be held in Paula’s memory each year.  In addition to the trophies listed below there are also beginner and level One classes to encourage riders just stating out to have a go.  This is a selection event for the WDPC Dressage Team.

Paula Hansen Memorial Junior Trophy 15 yrs & under
Paula Hansen Memorial Senior Trophy 16yrs & over
Paula Hansen Memorial Prix Caprilli Trophy

One Day Event Championships (called Commissioners Trophy ODE)
All riding levels are catered in this event and is a selection event for WDPC Timberlands Team (Training & A1/DC)

Introductory Bill Rendall Memorial Trophy
Pre Training Carter Commissioners Trophy
Training Baker Commissioner Trophy
A1/DC - Presented at Annual Prizegiving
Showjumping Championships
All riding levels are catered for at this event and is a selection event for the WDPC Cambridge SJ Team.

Trophies competed for are:
Trophies Junior 13yrs & under (90cm) Cole Commissioners Trophy
Intermediate 1416 yrs (100cm) Hansen Commissioners Trophy
Senior 17 & under 21yrs (110cm) Shaw Commissioners Trophy
