The Napier Sharks started back in the early 1990s with a bunch of guys in old plastic, warehouse bought inline skates, soccer shinguards, cricket gloves and a bike helmet. For those that remember, or had the privilege of having played there, our home was the big old outdoor skating rink on the Marine Parade and as a part of the Napier Skating Club.

By the end of the 1990s, our club was a force to be reckoned with, fielding teams across all grades that were available and being generally quite competitive and respected within the Lower North region. Some of our players going on to represent both at regional and National levels.

With the Napier Skating Club deciding to take a different direction in the early 2000's with the big open rink being taken over by ramps and jumps being what was Sk8zone, we no longer had a home and the unfortunate decline began.

With the loss of our venue, the club survived under the tutelage of a few diehards, albeit with limited success. The mistique of the Napier Sharks reputation has become somewhat more folklore since, with the few that are still around from those days able to keep that reputation alive.

In 2012 and running on the "fumes of an oily rag",  the club almost came to an untimely demise, but the few that remained, decided to give it one last nudge, to re-ignite the spark about Inline Hockey in Hawkes Bay and have the Napier Sharks become great once more.

We are still fighting the good fight! come down and check us out!
