CODE OF CONDUCT – NELSON SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION

The following code of conduct applies to all Nelson Softball Association members and persons who are participating in or connected to Nelson Softball Association events and activities.
Nelson Softball Association expects all members, whether they are in a paid or unpaid voluntary capacity, to abide by the Code of Conduct as it upholds the values and principles of the organisation.

  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of others.
  • Be fair, honest and considerate in your dealings with others.
  • Be professional and accept responsibility for your actions.  Conduct yourself in a sportsman-like manner and respect fellow athletes, coaches, managers, officials, and the achievements of your opposition.
  • Never argue with or verbally abuse an official.  Always use the appropriate rules and guidelines to resolve a dispute.
  • Make a commitment to providing quality and committed performance in training and competition.  This includes seeking medical advice when required.
  • Be aware of, abide by, and operate within the rules, regulations, standards and policies of Nelson Softball Association and Softball New Zealand.
  • Abide by the rules and regulations of Softball New Zealand’s (DFSNZ) Anti doping policy.
  • Immediately report any breaches to the appropriate authority.
  • Understand the possible consequences of breaching the code of conduct.
  • Refrain from any form of abuse towards others.
  • Refrain from any form of harassment towards others.
  • Refrain from any form of discrimination towards others.
  • Refrain from any form of victimisation towards others.
  • Be a positive role model.
  • Do not provide comment to the media on behalf of Nelson Softball Association.
  • Do not speak to the media in a negative way with respect to Nelson Softball Association.
  • Never act in a way that may bring disrepute or disgrace to Nelson Softball Association, its stakeholders, and/or its sponsors, potential sponsors and partners.
  • Do not participate in, or receive benefit from assisting others involved, in sports betting or gambling activity associated with softball events and/or softball results in which they are participating or been directly involved.

MEMBER AND ADMINISTRATOR CODE OF CONDUCT

An administrator will:

  • Agree to abide by the code of conduct.
  • Be fair and considerate of and to others.
  • Be professional in all actions.  Ensure language, manner, presentation and punctuality reflect high standards at all times.
  • Resolve conflicts fairly and in a timely manner through established procedures and governed by the laws of natural justice.
  • Maintain a safe environment.
