Tied Team Formula

If two teams are tied:

Using NPC/FPC rules as a guide, competition winners and play off positions can be determined as follows:

1. Who Beat Who in the Competition

2. Who has the highest Points Differential

3. Who scored the most tries in the Competition

4. Who scored the most points in the Competition

5. If still tied the position is shared but if a play-off position is required then the toss of a coin will be used.

If three teams are tied:

1. Who has the highest Competition Points is highest ranked and who has next highest competition points is next highest ranked,

2. Who scored the most tries in the Competition.

3. If still tied the position is shared but if a play-off position is required then the toss of a coin will be used.

Tied Finals:

In the event of a drawn or tied finals fixture in the U19, U18 and U16 grades No extra time will be played under NZR DSLV Law 5 (Time) and the remaining criteria will apply, but extra-time will be played for Development Men, Development Women and Under 85Kg Men grades as follows:

  1. The winner following a further ten (10) minutes of extra time each way, where applicable.

  2. The team scoring the most tries in the match (including extra time), where applicable.

  3. Who Beat Who in the Round Robin, where applicable.

  4. Who has the highest Points Differential in the Round Robin/pool play

  5. Who scored the most tries in the Round Robin/pool play

  6. Who scored the most match points in the Round Robin/pool play

  7. The team with the higher finals ranking, where applicable.
