Rosmini Sports Code of Conduct

At Rosmini College we believe in the importance of sport in shaping well-rounded young men. All students are expected to uphold and display the school’s values of Dignity, Integrity, Fairness, Justice and Charity, when representing the school in their sporting domain.

As a Rosmini student I will:
▪ Enjoy playing sport, have fun and partake in healthy competition
▪ Perform to my best of my ability every time I practice and compete
▪ Respect all officials, teammates, coaches, supporters and opponents
▪ Commit to every training session, fixture and tournament that I am selected for
▪ Be punctual to every training session and fixture
▪ Care for the environment and property of which I practice and compete in
▪ Ensure I wear the apparel that I have been requested to wear
▪ Communicate directly with my coach if I am unable to attend fixtures or training
▪ Play by the rules of my sport at all times
▪ Represent my school with the utmost pride
▪ Win with humility; lose with dignity

As a Rosmini Coach I will:
▪ Enjoy being involved in school sport
▪ Respect all officials, colleagues, coaches, players, supporters and opponents
▪ Place the safety and welfare of my players before anything else
▪ Be a positive role model for my players at all times
▪ Discuss any perceived problems with the Teacher-in-Charge
▪ Act with professionalism when conversing with players, parents and external parties
▪ Encourage adherence to school rules and the principles of fair play at all times

As a Rosmini Parent I will:
▪ Respect all officials, players, coaches, supporters and opponents
▪ All comments from the sideline should be positive and directed at supporting our team
▪ Observe all fixtures without questioning the decisions of coaches and officials
▪ Display a positive attitude at every game and be a role model for others
▪ Respect the policies and decisions made by the school
▪ Value the importance of volunteer coaches/managers who give their time and effort
▪ Communicate any perceive problems with the team manager (who will liaise through
the appropriate channels)
▪ Ensure all sport fees are paid on time – where cases of financial hardship exist, the
Teacher-in-charge can, and should, be approached to enable appropriate staff to be
contacted

Commitment:
Please consider carefully before making your decision to join a sport. When you join a team, you are expected to be fully committed to that team, attending all meetings, practices, and games. Students who do not follow these rules will be withdrawn from the team and their future participation with sport at Rosmini College may be compromised.
Likewise, if you withdraw from a team, you will not be permitted to play in that code, for Rosmini that season.

Rosmini Sports Code of Conduct for
Premier Players

At Rosmini College we believe that participating in sport at any level is a privilege, not a right. All students who represent the school in a premier team are expected to uphold the school’s rules and values with the highest of standards.

As a Premier Player I will:
▪ Abide by the school’s rules and values at all times
▪ Continue to follow the Rosmini Sport Code of Conduct
▪ Respect the policies and decisions made by the coach and school
▪ Play by the rules of the game at all times
▪ Attend and be punctual to all team meetings, practices, and fixtures
▪ Notify the coach of any unavailability at least one week prior to the playing date
▪ Remain committed to the team for the duration of the season; regardless of playing time and/or injury – continue to support the team in any capacity
▪ Wear appropriate team apparel at all times
▪ Care for and respect the equipment and facilities
▪ Pay, in full, by the required date, all associate sports fees
▪ Attend school with a positive attitude and show a committed effort toward academic
achievement
▪ Maintain 85% attendance in school across the year.

Guidelines:
▪ All participants must satisfy the requirements of the Sports Code of Conduct for Premier Players and Rosmini Sport Code of Conduct.
▪ Coach/manager/TIC has the authority to deal with, using reasonable means, players who are deemed to have committed a minor breach of their roles and responsibilities.
▪ Any major breach or inappropriate behaviour that occurs outside the school or causes harm to another individual falls outside the coaches/managers jurisdiction; the sports office will be notified of the offence.

Procedure:
If the player continually breaches the Sports Code of Conduct for Premier Players or
commits an offence that falls outside the coach/manager jurisdiction, the coach will:
▪ Approach the offending student to resolve the issue and inform the player that the
behaviour is inappropriate and that the school will be notified of the incident.
▪ In the case of the offence occurring during a tournament, the student’s parents can be notified and requested to come and remove the student from the competition. In the case a parent cannot be contacted the student may be sent home at the expense of the parent.
▪ All transgressions that occur on the field of play and/or close proximity of playing areas will be dealt with by the sports director and the headmaster accordingly.
▪ 85% attendance does not include justified absences such as medical or bereavement.
▪ A member of the Senior Leadership Team will monitor the attendance of premier players on a weekly basis. If their attendance is below 85% without justification, the sports director will be informed; and in turn notify the relevant coach that the player will not be available for selection for that game week.
▪ A player will not be considered for selection until their attendance has reached 85% or
more.
▪ The headmaster has the discretion to waiver player eligibility in individual cases due to special circumstances.
