General Information

Water Polo is a growing sport at Rosmini College.  It is offered from year 7 – year 13.

Teams play at Glenfield Pool and Leisure center and The Millenium Institute (which is run by North Harbour Water Polo).

The following Rosminian players have also gone on to achieve heights in Water Polo in New Zealand: Robbie Tindall, Matt Payne, Sasha Maese, Mark Casey and Toby Devine.

Rosmini College has fielded 8 teams in 2019 with one in Auckland Premier Grade, one in Senior B and two junior teams.  We also have four intermediate teams.

Many of our players also represent North Harbour Water Polo & Hibiscus Coast Water Polo clubs.

The Intermediate Winterfest Tournament (Aug 6-8th 2021 ) was a great weekend for Rosmini Intermediate Water Polo.

Rosmini entered three Teams: Blue, Red and White (Big thanks to the dedicated Managers and all parent supporters for all their effort on such a busy weekend)

Blue: Huge thanks to Will Catlin and Cole Johns for their time developing the Rosmini Blue Team-which was adjusted to the AIMs Team for this Tournament. The Team worked hard and had a good win against Diocesan, and a Tie with Murrays Bay Intermediate, with a Huge improvement over the weekend in their Team Work and Communication. They never gave up, with great heart and passion shown by the team.

(Played against Kings, Carmel, MMI, Diocesan, MBIS, ANI)

RED:

Our Red Team played well the first day of the Tournament, showing massive effort in two difficult games. They started working well as a Team, and greatly evolved their learning thanks to Coach Ross McFadzean and progressed to TWO great wins on the final day of the Tournament.

(Played Pasadena, NIS, St Marys college, Kings, St Cuthberts, Northcross)

WHITE

A Massive thank you to Theo Johns for mentoring the boys for the Friday and Isaac Porter for helping with the First game. Team White had successes on all three days of the Tournament, with Coaches Isaac and Theo supporting them through to 10th place out of 20 Teams. Well done White! a great first Tournament experience.

(Played St Thomas, Te Atatu, Remuera, Ponsonby)

HARBOUR WATER POLO ZONE DAY June 30th 2022

Rosmini Intermediate Waterpolo Zone Day Champions 2022!

An awesome effort by our Rosmini Blue Team at the Intermediate Waterpolo Zone Day this year.

Our boys finished 2nd in their Pool- leading to a semi-final against the top team of Pool A

Murray’s Bay teams are traditionally strong, so our boys were fired up for the semi final and prepared for a tough game.  Things clicked, our boys scored first and didn’t look back, winning 7-0.

This put them through to the Final and they faced Kristin again, so it was redemption time for our boys to put the moring's loss behind them. Our boys again scored first and took it home to win 6-1 in a thrilling final match up taking out the honours and winning the Zone Day.

Full credit to Kristin putting up a decent fight in the final and for organising the Zone Day.

Also thanks to coach Ross McFadzean (former Rosmini student) for taking time out of his day to help steer the boys to their win.

GLENFIELD LEAGUE SWIM FOR POLO:

With the Rosmini Glenfield water polo league comes the opportunity to join in the swim for polo sessions.

Swim for Polo sessions are to help young swimmers improve aerobic and anaerobic endurance and work on swim skills specific to Water Polo. The sessions are designed for all kinds of young swimmers to build their swim fitness up to that of a competitive Water Polo Player.

Swim For Polo is run across 3 sessions per week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday Mornings from 7:00am - 8:00am for swimmers aged 11 - 18 (with some exceptions for particularly strong 10 year old swimmers). Swim for Polo is not compulsorily but an option for those who want to take their game to the next level.
