UNDER 6 & 7's RIPPA RUGBY

Under 6 and 7's Rippa Rugby is a great way to introduce our 5 and 6 year olds to the game with the main focus on teaching team play, running and ball skills. The team is played on a half sized field with a maximum of 9 players (per team) on the field at any one time.There is strictly no tackling or ball kicking and games consist of 2 x 20 minute halves.

Rippa Rugby is Non Competition but scoring will be carried out every Saturday so we can provide NZ rugby with our registered players when requested.


UNDER 9 RUGBY 

After completing a practical 'Tacklebox' course at the beginning of the season, 7 & 8 year olds now progress on to tackle rugby.The game is still played on a half sized field with a 5 person scrums and lineouts (non contested), tap and pass kickoffs and penalty, but still no kicking in general play.A maximum of 12 per team on the field with 2 x 25 minute halves.


UNDER 11 RUGBY 

The game is now played on a half a field with 8 person scrums (no contesting or pushing), normal kick-off and penalty. Lineouts can be contested but no lifting. Normal team numbers on the field but games are still only 2 x 25 minute halves. Children at this grade are now learning positional play and standard rules when kicking in general play is now permitted. 


UNDER 13 RUGBY

Years 7 & 8 play on a full field with normal team numbers. 8 person scrums. Game now extended to 30 minute halves with contested scrums only allowed if refereed by an Associate Referee. Pushing is limited to half a metre.

2024 INFORMATION

SEASON DATES

  • Training are set by coaches and can be any day of the week
  • Competition dates to be confirmed (usually beginning of May) 
  • Competition days are Saturdays and generally are between May - August


FEES​​​

  • 2024 our player fees are $60 for one child and for any other siblings $50
  • Can be paid via our online payment system by using our online system by clicking on the button to the right
