HE CASTLE CUP (Association Croquet)
Played between Waikanae and Plimmerton. Around 1998 The Castle Cup was donated by Eric and Ursula Castle for an annual AC competition between the Waikanae and Plimmerton clubs. Eric Castle was the PCC President 1992-6; and was made a life member in 2001. His late wife Ursula Castle was the PCC Club Captain 1998-2000.
It was originally played in 2 legs: 1st leg, in February, in Plimmerton; 2nd leg, in April, in Waikanae.
From 2012-13 the competition is played on 1 day with the venue alternating between the clubs. Played in February.
Association croquet is played in all 4 grades. Each team consists of up to 8 players. Doubles in the morning, singles in the afternoon. 3 hours + Regulation 8. Scoring : number of wins or, if even, number of hoops scored.
2024 - Waikanae won score 3 games to Plimmerton's 1 a great day for Croquet the weather was good and te doubles was a draw 1 game each but Waikanae managed to win both the Single games so cam away the winner
