KATIKATI RUGBY & SPORTS CLUB

MISSION: Our goal as a club is to “Grow and develop the sporting environment in our community, for our community”.

Our committee is a made up of a wide variety of driven people from parents to business owners, coaches to ex-deputy mayors.

Plans include:
• Two senior rugby teams
• More juniors  than ever wanting to play rugby
• Touch module up and running
• 7’s team training
• The possibility of more BOP rep games
• A new structure that will allow Incorporated Clubs to use the facilities and make this Club their home

Some history:
• Established in 1880, Katikati Rugby Club is a founder club in both the Bay of Plenty and Thames Valley Rugby Unions
• Katikati is the only club to still wear the colours of both the Bay of Plenty and Thames Valley unions on their rugby shirts
• The first All Black captain (in 1905), Dave Gallaher played rugby in Katikati as a child
• Past Katikati Rugby Club player Graeme Moore is the highest try-scoring player in Bay of Plenty rugby union history
• The Katikati Senior Men’s second game, against Tauranga Rugby Club at Tauranga Domain on July 31, 1880, was the first interclub game recorded in the Bay of Plenty
