Marlborough   Colleges Sailing Club

Providing secondary school students in the Marlborough region with the opportunity to sail and enhance their skills in a teams racing environment

To get started in team sailing you need to:

Become a member of the MCSC.  This costs $10 and must be paid at the beginning of the season.   You can pay via credit card or poli but will need to pay the bank fees.  Bank direct payment is also an option to avoid this.

Always include your name and school initials and what the payment is for as a reference  e.g.  Jack Smith QCC Membership    -   Joe Bloggs   MGC  Clinic

You will also need to be a member of a yacht club that is affiliated with Yachting New Zealand (YNZ). The New Zealand Team Sailing Association (NZTSA) require all sailors to have affiliation with YNZ.  You need to go to the Queen Charlotte Yacht Club website to register. www.qcyc.org.nz   Single sailor is $200 and this includes membership for a parent or $300 for multi sailors and parents in the same house.

This covers the cost of your affiliation to YNZ and also a use of facilities fees as the team sailors use the changing rooms and showers at QCYC at Shelley Beach in Picton on Training Days.   If you are new to Team Sailing, you can also join in with Club days in the older 420 boats to add to your training.

For coaching costs for the weekly trainings, this is $300 per sailor for the whole season.    MCSC Committee will apply for funding to assist with costs for coaching and attending regattas and clinics but no funding is guaranteed. We have been successful in the past but the following is what you should expect to pay and funding is a bonus.

MCSC fee................................................................................................. $ 10

QCYC fee................................................................................................. $200-300

Coaching fee............................................................................................ $300

Additional clinics and travelling costs to Nationals will depend on the individual teams decisions and efforts towards fundraising.
