NATIONAL APPOINTMENTS

Junior Black Sox Assistant Manager

Grant McCarroll, a distinguished member of the Softball NZ Hall of Fame and former Black Sox Manager, has recently been assigned the role of JBSX Assistant Manager. Selected as a non-travelling reserve for the 1985 Junior Black Sox World Series team, McCarroll will contribute to the team's preparations as they gear up for the upcoming WBSC U-18 Men's Softball World Cup, scheduled to take place in Hermosillo, Mexico.

The tournament will be hosted at Mundialistas Hermosillenses Stadium and Fernando M. Ortiz Field, spanning from November 11th to November 19th.

Developing Sox Boys Co-Managers

The Developing Sox Boys team has strengthened its coaching staff by appointing two Co-Managers to assist Head Coach Tane Landon-Lane in preparing for their upcoming tours to Queensland in September. Mike Robinson from Hutt Valley and Andrew Charnley from North Harbour bring extensive experience in coaching and managing club and representative age group teams. Charnley has recently been honored with the Club of the Year award during the Softball NZ Annual Awards while serving as the President of East Coast Bay United, making it an exciting time for him.

Robinson and Charnley have stepped in to replace Manu Jones, who resigned earlier this year. Softball NZ would like to express our gratitude to Manu for his unwavering passion and dedication to the programme. Managing the 2022 schedule was undoubtedly challenging, and we are truly thankful for Manu's hard work and contributions as the DSX Manager.
