Softballers helping softballers

Softball New Zealand is delighted to welcome Gerrards Insurance as its Official and Exclusive Insurance Partner, building on strong connections within the softball community and a shared commitment to the sport’s future.

The partnership includes naming rights for the Gerrards Insurance Under 18 White Sox and the Gerrards Insurance Under 17 Girls Nationals, taking place in Counties Manukau in January 2027, alongside support across national events.

At its heart is a simple idea: softballers helping softballers.

With current Black Sox player Seth Gibson and Under 23 Black Sox representative Reuben Elkins deeply involved, the partnership has a personal connection to the players, whānau and volunteers who make the sport possible.

Softball NZ Chief Executive Casey Eden says those connections make Gerrards a welcome addition to the softball family.

“From our first conversations, Ethan and the Gerrards team have shown real enthusiasm for supporting softball and helping us move the sport forward. Seth and Reuben bring a shared understanding of our community and the commitment it takes to represent New Zealand.

“We’re excited to work with people who care about the game and want to grow alongside us. There’s a strong foundation here for a genuine partnership, and plenty to look forward to over the coming year.”

For Gerrards co-founder and Chief Executive Ethan Gerrard, the partnership is an opportunity to support a community already close to the business.

“Softball has a strong community culture, and we’re proud to be part of it,” says Gerrard.

“Through Seth and Reuben, we’ve seen the passion and commitment that goes into the game.
