Waikanae Netball Club Code of Conduct


Purpose

The Code of Conduct sets the standards of behaviour expected by all members of the Waikanae Netball Club (WNC).  These standards reflect the basic requirements of courtesy, respect, integrity, participation, inclusion of all members of the club, and support of coaches, umpires and associated management.

Our Responsibilities and Expectations

The following sections set out what we are all responsible for, what you can expect from WNC and our expectations from you.


Waikanae Netball Club will:

​​​​​​​1. Invite your input into decision making wherever appropriate

2. Demonstrate fair impartial selection of teams

3. Provide regular and appropriate feedback on performance and willingness to assist with the development of all players and coaches

4. Provide appropriate disciplinary action with opportunity for redress against unfair or unreasonable treatment of any member of WNC


Waikanae Netball Club and you will work to:

5. Maintain a relationship based on mutual respect, trust and loyalty.

6. Increase performance through commitment to continuous improvement of skills for an individual and or team.

7. Model expected behaviours at training, tournaments and on game day.


As individuals each of us must:

8. Maintain and respect the Club’s playing strip and gear bags at all time ​​​​​​​

a) “playing strip” incorporates:

  • warm-up gear
  • tracksuit
  • playing uniform

b) “gear bag” incorporates: 

  • practice and game balls
  • first aid kits
  • training equipment
  • miscellaneous items

c) “maintain and respect” means:

  • ensuring all items of the Club’s playing strip are kept washed, clean,  tidy and in good repair at all times (you will be liable for any damages)
  • ensuring the team gear bag is maintained in an orderly fashion, well labelled and supervised at all times behaving in an appropriate manner whilst wearing the WNC uniform ​​​​​​​

d)  “expected behaviour” means:

  • displaying fair play on the court
  • sportsmanship on and off the court
  • respecting umpires and their decisions


9. Assist all team members, committee members and supporters as and when  necessary/required

10. Direct queries, ideas/ suggestions, concerns and complaints must be passed on through the correct channels  ie:  club captain, team coach/captain or any member of the committee -  these will be addressed at the earliest committee meeting and feedback/action will be undertaken accordingly

11. Respect and care for each other in an appropriate manner, ie:

  • Encouraging and positive comments for the betterment of performance
  • Abide by any decisions that the committee and coach has decided upon​​​​​​​

12. Participate in all fundraising or club gatherings for the purpose of benefiting the Club

13. Alcohol and Drug use at trainings, at games including tournament trainings and games is prohibited. Any member found to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be escorted from the premesis immediately and considered serious misconduct. 

14. Abide by the constitutions of the Waikanae Netball Club, Coastlands Netball Kāpiti and Netball New Zealand
