Raewyns Waimatua's netball journey began in 2000 when she joined the Waimatua Netball Club and has become a true cornerstone of both the Waimatua Netball Club (WNC)and the Invercargill Netball Centre (INC).

Raewyn started as a player with the Waimatua Black team, and her involvement quickly grew, and she joined the WNC Committee in 2002, going on to serve as President and leading the club through exciting times, and later remaining on the committee, holding the role of Patron for several years as well

One of Raewyn's highlights was 2010 when WNC fielded two teams for the first time. Under Raewyn’s leadership, Waimatua Black won their grade and moved up to the next level—a major achievement for the club

Raewyn’s netball contributions extend beyond WNC as Raewyn was a member of the INC executive for four years, helping to shape the future of netball in the region

Her coaching experience is impressive, with 15 years coaching WNC teams from 5 and 6 to U16. Raewyn  also coached Kiwi Netball and spent three years coaching Verdon College’s Senior B’s

Additionally, Raewyn has managed the INC U19 and U21 teams

For 20 years, Raewyn has been an umpire and umpire coach, playing a key role in training new officials and maintaining the game's standards within WNC and the INC

One of the most special aspects of Raewyn’s journey is how she has inspired those around her. Her passion for netball has influenced her daughter, who joined the Waimatua Netball Club in 2023, continuing the family’s love for the sport
