Introduction
Cricket has long been an integral part of Auckland Grammar School's sporting tradition, with generations of students representing the School with distinction and upholding the values of excellence, discipline and sportsmanship.
The Auckland Grammar School 1st XI has built a proud reputation through strong performances in Auckland and national secondary school competitions, while maintaining traditional fixtures against New Plymouth Boys' High School, Palmerston North Boys' High School and Christchurch Boys' High School. The programme continues to provide opportunities for talented young cricketers to compete at the highest level of school cricket in New Zealand.
In recent years, the School has enjoyed considerable success, including qualification for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Cricket Championships and the development of representative players who have progressed to provincial and national age-group teams. This success is underpinned by a commitment to player development, quality coaching and a culture that values both individual excellence and team achievement.
With a history spanning more than a century, Auckland Grammar Cricket has produced numerous first-class cricketers, provincial representatives, and national age-group players. Distinguished Old Boys include Martin Crowe ('76), Jeff Crowe ('72), Lockie Ferguson ('05), Kyle Jamieson ('08), James Neesham ('04), Dion Nash ('89) and Mark Burgess ('58).
More than results, cricket at Grammar is about developing character, fostering lifelong friendships and representing the School with pride as each new generation adds to this rich and enduring legacy.
