Tennis has been a proud part of Auckland Grammar School’s sporting tradition for over 114 years, offering opportunities for both junior and senior students to develop their skills and compete at the highest levels.

Grammar offers teams for both competitive players (those with interclub experience) and non-competitive players who wish to enjoy the sport in a more social setting. Students compete in a variety of events throughout the year, including Tennis Nationals, Champion of Champions, and the traditional Quadrangular and Christchurch Exchange fixtures.

The 2025 season has been one of the most successful in recent years. Our Premier team — B.J.M Archbold (Captain) and H.S.M Bassett (both Form 7), L.M. Bland (Form 6), R. Huang (Form 5), and C.L.V. Kindt (Form 4) — claimed the National Championship title for the first time since 2003.

The team also achieved outstanding results across multiple competitions: Runners-up in the Auckland Final and in the Quadrangular Tournament, Winners of the Christchurch Exchange & Champions of the Auckland Champion of Champions Tournament.

In individual success, Jiadong Li (Form 4) captured the Junior Singles title at the Champion of Champions tournament.

With strong performances and emerging young talent, the future of Tennis at Auckland Grammar School looks exceptionally bright. The depth of skill and passion among our players continues to uphold the proud Tennis legacy that has defined Grammar for more than a century.
